American actress Holly Hunter has brushed aside scathing criticism of her Irish accent in new West End play BY THE BOG OF CATS, insisting she isn't interested in reviews.

The British media mocked Hunter's interpretation of the accent after previews of the play, BBC radio presenter JAMES NAUGHTIE called it one of the worst Irish accents ever to grace the West End.

But Hunter - who won a Best Actress OSCAR in 1993 for her role in THE PIANO - insists she doesn't care.

She says, "I'm only interested in what me, my director and the cast can create on the stage - I never read reviews."
