Police have arrested a female heckler who allegedly hurled a shoe at U.S. politician Hillary Clinton during a speech in Las Vegas on Thursday (10Apr14).
America's former First Lady was forced to duck out of the way when the missile was thrown at her shortly after she took to the stage at a recycling convention to give the keynote address.
Clinton managed to laugh off the incident, telling the audience at the Mandalay Bay resort, "Was that a bat?... Is that somebody throwing something at me? Is that part of Cirque de Soleil?... My goodness, I didn't know that solid waste management was so controversial. Thank goodness she didn't play softball like I did."
The woman who allegedly threw the shoe was detained by security guards, and later arrested. Criminal charges have yet to be filed, according to the Associated Press.
The incident comes six years after former U.S. President George W. Bush suffered a similar shoe-throwing scare during a trip to Iraq in 2008. The politician had to duck when two shoes were hurled at him during a press conference in Baghdad.
