Actress Hilary Swank's debut on New York's Broadway has been put on hold - because bosses insist the production needs more work.

The OSCAR-winning BOYS DON'T CRY beauty took on a role in THE MIRACLE WORKER and performed in the show during a tryout run in Charlotte, North Carolina, which ended yesterday (30MAR03).

But after the show's run, producer BARRY WEISSLER decided to postpone the Miracle Worker's 24 April (03) debut. Previews were supposed to begin on 8 April (03). A new date has yet to be set.

Swank stars as Helen Keller's teacher ANNIE SULLIVAN in the production.
