Heights are back with the release of their brilliant, brand new studio album
'Old Lies For Young Lvies' on April 29th through Transcend Music. The album was recorded and produced by John Mitchell and Ben Humphries of Outhouse Studios (You Me At Six, Enter Shikari, Architects, Funeral For A Friend, Rolo Tomassi and more).
The first, lead single 'Eleven Eyes' (featuring Sam Carter from ARCHITECTS) received its first play on the Radio 1 Rock Show (in the early hours Tuesday morning, this week) with Daniel P Carter to a huge response, and the video has now received nearly 20,000 views in 2 days.
HEIGHTS front man Alex Monty (vocals) on having a guest vocalist, Sam Carter from Architects, on the track 'Eleven Eyes': "Having Sam Carter on the track was a real game changer for this song and it's vibe. We approached him with the song structurally fully written, and then some lyrical ideas. He came down to the studio and he started riffing some ideas over the top of the ending. The whole guest vocal probably only took about an hour to write and record. The whole process was just so fluid and it really shows in the track."
Alex on the album, 'Old Lies For Young Lives'; "Our album is the first we've released with my vocals on it, and naturally is a big departure from (first album) 'Dead Ends'. The whole album is a sort of journey through our lives, with lyrical content about growing older and the changes in attitude you experience as you come to terms with the world that you live in. Lots of bands don't really build an album as much as we've tried to do with 'Old Lies'. It's not just 10 songs that are all singles shoved together on an album, it's more of a progression that reflects our lives and our experiences."
Dean (Richardson, guitars) continues;
"It's faster, more energetic and is written to be played how we play live!
It's also definitely a whole album, too many bands these days throw songs together and call it an album, but I grew up listening to albums that had a purpose. Start to finish, a concept or lyric running through them, a theme in the mood and a beginning and end. 'Old Lies For Young Lives' is meant to be listened to in full, front to back."
