British pop star Heidi Range has credited her stint on Dancing On Ice with helping her deal with her split from fiance Dave Berry, insisting she has "a new lease of life" from tackling the U.K. TV show.
The Sugababes singer accepted Berry's proposal on New Year's Eve (31Dec) 2009 and they planned to exchange vows in October (11), but she revealed in December (11) they had secretly parted ways.
Range admits the split from her partner of eight years has been difficult, and she's grateful to have been given the chance to focus on the skating show to take her mind off her heartbreak.
She tells Britain's Sunday Mirror, "The end of last year was awful. We're still great friends and I saw him last week... but it's hard. My life's been turned upside down and I don't know what is going to happen.
"Dancing On Ice has got me through it. It's given me a new lease of life. It's exciting to be making a fresh start. This show has been brilliant. It's given me confidence and I've got my groove back."
