Sir Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills has taken gold in a ski challenge despite racing with a fractured shoulder and broken thumb.
The former model, who lost a leg in a traffic accident in 1993, grabbed first place for the British disabled ski team at the Austria Cup Super G Ski Speed Race at Innerkrems.
Mills admitted she was worried about competing after injuring herself in five high-speed skiing crashes in recent weeks.
She says, "I fractured my left shoulder twice, snapping my anterior cruciate ligament once and smashing my scapula into five pieces...
"I'm absolutely over the moon (with the win). I'd like to thank everyone who helped and supported... Not a bad achievement for someone who is 44. Most racers start when they are about four years old.
"My long term aim is to go for gold in the 2014 Paralympics."
