The stage show will be based on the 1952 movie, starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, and it will be directed by Robert Carsen, who enjoyed success behind the scenes with My Fair Lady in 2010 and 2013 at the French production house.

"Theatre du Chatelet's productions have long been internationally recognised for their high quality and progressive interpretations," Weinstein says. "This production is simply spectacular - it at last does justice to one of America's greatest films."

The play originally ran on Broadway in 1985 and a sold-out Paris production was held last year (14). It returned to the theatre earlier this month (Nov14) and will run until January (16).
