Movie legends Harvey Keitel and Sophia Loren received lifetime achievement awards on Saturday (16APR05) at the 24th ISTANBUL FILM FESTIVAL for their astounding contributions to film.

Italian actress Lauren, who won Best Actress OSCAR in 1961 for Two Women and an Oscar for career achievement in 1991, was guest of honour at the festival, which ended last night (17APR05).

And she was astounded the Turkey-based ceremony was aware of her work, and promised to place the gong beside her Oscars.

Keitel was equally astounded by his award, but vowed to prove himself worthy of the honour by starring in more critically-acclaimed films, like Reservoir Dogs, FROM DUSK TIL DAWN and The Piano.

The ceremony's host CEYDA DUVENCI says, "Ever since Sophia's gazelle-like eyes appeared on screen, she has enchanted anyone gazing at them.

"And Harvey Keitel is associated with so many iconic films, I'm amazed this is his first lifetime achievement award."
