THE SOPRANOS star LORRAINE BRACCO suffered from crippling depression while filming the first season of the hit show. The actress blames the devastating dissolution of her marriage to actor Harvey Keitel. The star, who plays psychiatrist DR JENNIFER MELFI on the show, has written about her battle in her new autobiography THE COUCH. She says, "As we shot the first season of The Sopranos - the best job I ever had - I struggled through pea-soup gloom." Bracco refused to take anti-depressants, but changed her mind after spotting an ad that said, "You have only one chance to be a mother. Why do it depressed?" She then went into therapy and began taking medication. She adds, "When I finally got up from the couch, I felt stronger, empowered and hopeful about the future."
