British movies have doubled their box office takings in the past two years - thanks to the mega-successful Harry Potter franchise. The top ten UK films last year (05) made $2.4 billion (GBP1.35 billion) compared with just $1.2 billion (GBP622 million) in 2003. Films are classed as British if they were filmed in the UK, with UK talent, even if they were made with American money.
