Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is following up his stint as the boy wizard with the lead role in a remake of classic war movie All Quiet on the Western Front.
The British actor, who wrapped shooting on the final Potter films this month (Jun10), will play a World War I soldier stationed in the trenches of northern France in the new adaptation, based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque.
And producer Ian Stokell is convinced Radcliffe will be able to work his magic on the project, which begins shooting in 2012.
Stokell tells Variety.com, "Daniel brings a vulnerability and innocence to Paul. When we realised how much he loved the script we were really excited because we know he can tap into the delicate balance between intensity and believability that is critical for this demanding role."
The original 1930 film won the Best Picture Academy Award, while filmmaker Lewis Milestone took home the Best Director Oscar.
