The stars of the latest instalment in the Harry Potter film franchise have attended the world premiere in Japan.

The cast of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix greeted Japanese fans which included competition winners who were among the first to see the new film.

Daniel Radcliffe, who has played the role of Harry in every Potter film to date, told the BBC: "It's wonderful to come over here and to say hello.

"I hope people will be impressed by the new characters, the new performances and the big battle."

He greeted the charring crowds by saying "hello, people of Japan" in Japanese.

Harry shares a Kiss with his Hogwarts school friend Cho Chang in the latest film, played by the actress Katie Lang.

Radcliffe confided that kissing a girl on set was not the hardest thing he had ever had to do, particularly after appearing in the West End production of Equus.

"Kissing Katie was a very, very comfortable experience, especially when compared to being naked on stage and blinding horses."

The final book of the Harry Potter saga, the Deathly Hallows, will be released later this month, shortly after the new film which will open in the UK on July 11th.
