The British star rose to fame thanks to his casting in 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, where he played Neville Longbottom. Matthew featured in every one of the Harry Potter films, finally saying goodbye to his wizard alter ego 10 years after his adventure first began.

In May (15) fans got to see a new side to the actor, when Matthew stripped to his underwear for the cover of Attitude magazine. After it hit shelves the 26-year-old was sent a copy of the image at least once an hour on Twitter.

"I’ve seen enough of me in pants to last a lifetime," he laughed to Britain's Evening Standard newspaper, adding he doesn't own a copy of the shoot.

“I was like ‘Why the hell do you want me?’ Naturally you think of cover models to be David Beckham or someone insanely handsome, not me. But I’ve worked with the photographer, Joseph Sinclair, before and he is incredibly talented. He suggested some more risqué shots because I was in the best shape of my life and I trust him."

Matthew was still self-conscious on set, but his work with Daniel Craig's trainer Tim Buckley for new flick Me Before You meant his body was in peak condition.

On the subject of Harry Potter, Matthew reveals he's still in regular contact with co-stars Robbie Coltrane and Tom Felton. Since the franchise finished Matthew has varied the roles he plays, revealing new work seemed exciting after playing the same part for a decade.

"I jump at every opportunity I have to mix it up," he explained. "Going away to do Harry Potter was a bit of a ballache. Don’t get me wrong, I sound like a t**t. It was such an opportunity and there’s me going, ‘I want to go to the pub with my mates’. That feeling disappeared. I realised I was doing an incredible job.”
