Hollywood hunk Harrison Ford is defending Star Wars creator George Lucas's right to be a 'nerd' - because nerds make lots of money.

Lucas created the six-part sci-fi series back in the Seventies, and has earnt himself a fortune through the phenomenally successful movies - which HANS SOLO actor Ford believes is ample compensation for being a nerd.

The veteran star says, "George is certainly a nerd. But he has elevated nerddom. Is BILL GATES a nerd? Is STEVE JOBS a nerd? Absolutely. Are they among the most successful people in their fields? Yeah."
