The veteran joined host Kimmel on the sidewalk outside his Hollywood Boulevard studio as the host attempted to dissuade the wookie from jumping off the roof of the building.

At first, Ford, who plays Chewbacca's longtime sidekick Han Solo in the Star Wars films, didn't seem interested in saving his pal, but then he grabbed a megaphone and tried a little tough love, yelling, "Shut your wookie grunt hole, will ya!"

After the hairy creature on the roof growled back, Ford added, "Don't gimme that! You made a choice. She was my wife. I don't care. I don't wanna hear it... Do us a favour, jump."

Kimmel urged him to calm down, saying, 'Come on... That's your friend up there. I know you guys have been through a lot, but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away."

The skit then turned into a dream sequence as Ford and the wookie drank beer, enjoyed a pedicure and played Connect 4 and arcade games, while Adele's Hello played over the flashback.

The sketch ended with the actor hugging Chewbacca on the roof as Kimmel attempted to sing the Star Wars theme through the megaphone, which prompted Ford to yell "Shut the f**k up" from the roof.
