Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder has denounced his former drug-taking lifestyle and adopted a keep-fit regime as part of an all-body make-over.

The 43-year-old STEP ON singer, who has had a well-documented battle with hard drugs, regularly cycles through the English countryside and has also changed his drinking habits in a bid to improve his physique.

Ryder explains, "I wouldn't go so far as to join a gym but I've taken up cycling where I live in the Peak District. F**king lovely.

"And recently I've given up drinking Guinness because it's too fattening. Instead, I'm drinking lightweight lagers like Corona."

As for getting his teeth fixed, he says, "And I plucked up the courage to get my teeth sorted out. It cost a few bob.

"I had really good teeth until five years ago then the bottom ones started to go because they had tobacco or heroin stains on them.

"But Shane MacGowan has never bothered getting his done and Johnny Rotten even went on (UK reality TV show) I'm a celebrity with one tooth missing so it's not too bad a deal."
