Happy Mondays hellraiser BEZ was jailed for a month on Wednesday (25Aug10) - after he refused to carry out community service for attacking his ex-girlfriend.
The British dancer/percussionist attended a court in Manchester, England for sentencing after he was convicted earlier this month (Aug10) of assaulting Monica Ward during a domestic dispute.
District judge Marie Cash told the star, real name Mark Berry, he would have to carry out community service as punishment - but he refused, telling her: "I'm not doing it. (I'm not) bothered. I'm going to appeal and take this to a real court."
The official then told the rocker he would be jailed for four weeks instead, prompting him to shout, "Victory is in my grasp" as he was handcuffed and led to the cells.
Bez was also handed a restraining order preventing him from contacting Ward for two years.
He later asked his solicitor to tell the court he would accept the community service sentence after all - but the judge refused. The court heard Bez intends to appeal against the jail sentence.
