Gwyneth Paltrow offered Beyonce support ''right away'' after her sister Solange was caught on camera fighting with her husband Jay Z.

The 'Mortdecai' actress claims she immediately picked up the phone and reached out to the 'Drunk In Love' hitmaker after shocking footage of Solange hitting Jay Z after the Met Gala emerged in May last year.

When asked how she reacted to the video, which shows the pair arguing beside Beyonce in a lift, she explained: ''I never say, 'What's going on?' If any of my friends have anything like that, I call right away. Absolutely... If someone's clearly going through something, I always go straight for it.''

While the 42-year-old star gushed over the ''funny and sweet'' couple and counted fellow actress Cameron Diaz amongst her closest celeb pals, she insists most of her friends aren't A-listers.

She told Howard Stern on SiriusXM: ''My best famous friend is Cameron Diaz. Jay and Beyonce are my others. They're the greatest people. They are funny and sweet, and self-aware and really intelligent.

''I have some famous friends. And I have mostly not famous friends.''
