In a question and answer session with readers of her Goop lifestyle website, the Iron Man actress joked using crack is preferable to eating processed cheese. It's not the first time the actress turned healthy eating advocate has made such a suggestion.

She shocked television viewers in 2011 after telling British chat show host Jonathan Ross if she was given the choice between smoking crack cocaine and eating cheese sprayed from a can, she'd take the drugs.

"Hell yes. You know, crack might be extreme, but spray cheese is not my kind of party," she wrote in a post on her website on Monday.

Despite her distaste for certain foods, Gwyneth is keen to point out her lifestyle is not as puritanical as some think.

"I really enjoy food that can be considered bad for you, like martinis and french fries," she wrote in response to a question asking what would surprise her readers about her life.

The actress, who is currently in the process of divorcing her estranged husband Chris Martin, says that when she was pregnant with their two children, Apple, 11, and Moses, 10, her strict healthy eating regime went totally awry.

"I went from being gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free to only being able to stomach grilled Swiss cheese sandwiches, french fries, and Baskin-Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge," the 43-year-old says.

She does try and keep her two kids away from fast food, but admits it is a struggle due to children's sweet tooth, saying, "Genuinely it’s a nightmare. All kids want is white sugar, white carbs, and processed foods. I think I take a similar tack to you. I try to have a pretty clean pantry at home, but if we pass a bag of Cheez-Its at the airport, or Apple sees Mexican Coke, it’s all over."

According to reports, Chris and Gwyneth are close to finalising the details of their divorce, and in a recent interview the actress insisted they were still on good terms.

"I think we are better as friends than we were (married)," she told Marie Claire Australia. "We are very close and supportive of one another."
