British Rocker Guy Garvey Showed His Hellraising Credentials Early In His Career By Trashing Four Hotel Rooms Just A Day After Signing His First Record Deal.
The Elbow frontman landed a contract with V2 Records in 2001, 11 years after the band first started playing together, and Garvey was so excited he went on a huge drinking binge.
The following day he ran a bath at his hotel but was still drinking and forgot he had left the taps on - and the resulting flood damage wrecked his room and the three directly beneath it.
One Day Like This singer Garvey tells Q magazine. "It was the day after we signed to V2 Records. I drank too much, ran a bath... and ran and ran and ran a bath and flooded the floor beneath. I've stayed there since but they always put me on the lowest floor possible because I didn't just trash my room, but the three underneath it."
