American rockers Green Day have supported themselves at a string of gigs across America, as masked electro-band THE NETWORK.
The gigs in Las Vegas (3OCT05), Los Angeles (10OCT) and San Francisco (13OCT), saw the rock 'n' roll superstars picking up their 2003 side-project band - whose members had never previously been identified.
Green Day even created rumours of animosity between themselves and their phony support to promote The Network and their debut album MONEY MONEY 2020.
However the AMERICAN IDIOT hitmakers jokingly insist on maintaining a distance between the two groups.
A source says, "The Network have been an ongoing pain in the a** for the Green Day camp.
"They have pressured to have The Network open due to contract issues.
"Any comparisons between the well-dressed members of Green Day and The Network, a band that clearly shops at Merry Go Round in their local mall, is completely absurd."
