Distinguished guests from around the world have attended the funeral of PRINCE RAINIER III in Monaco today (15APR05).

Europe's longest-ruling monarch, Prince Rainier died last week (06APR05) at the age of 81 following a five-week battle with breathing, kidney and heart problems.

Rainier will be buried next to his late wife PRINCESS GRACE OF MONACO, the ACADEMY AWARD-winning film star Grace Kelly who died in a car accident in 1982.

Only close family members will be in attendance at the private burial service later today.

Among the guest at Rainier's funeral were French President JACQUES CHIRAC, KING JUAN CARLOS of Spain, British royal PRINCE ANDREW and Belgium's KING ALBERT II.

Rainier's son PRINCE ALBERT, 47, has succeeded his father. Monaco is officially in mourning for the next three months.
