Antipodean singers Gotye and Kimbra are set to do battle for the top award at the 2012 Australasian Performing Right Association (Apra) Awards after shooting to international fame with their duet Somebody That I Used To Know.
The track has become one of the biggest hits of the year (12) so far, and made Goyte the first Australian musician to top the U.S. singles charts since Savage Garden's number one with I Knew I Loved You in 2000.
Now the tune has landed Gotye a nod for Song of the Year at the Apra prizegiving, and his collaborator Kimbra is also nominated for her track Cameo Lover.
Others artists fighting for the prize include, Matt Corby (Brother), Lanie Lane (Oh Well) and The Beards (You Should Consider Having Sex With A Bearded Man).
Gotye is also nominated for Most Played Australian Work at the ceremony, while Kimbra landed another nod in the Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year category.
Other acts up for trophies include Maroon 5, LMFAO, Jessie J and Adele, who are all nominated for the International Work of the Year prize.
The ceremony will take place on 28 May (12) in Sydney.
