Goldie Hawn has found ageing tough - but taught herself to accept looks are only temporary.

The screen siren also ventured into middle age under the scrutinous eye of the media, which made the process even harder.

She tells, "You find yourself attached to your own image... the trick is to be come aware of these attachments and to become aware of the impermanence of them... but you have a tendency, or want to have a tendency, to grasp on to youth, to grasp onto the ability to always look beautiful."

She adds of cruel and unflattering paparazzi shots, "Oh, my God, this is the scariest picture I've ever seen - and yet I do look that way in that picture, so that becomes reality."
