Hollywood star Goldie Hawn was sexually abused as a young child - but she is grateful the experience failed to stop her trusting men when she became an adult.

The OSCAR-winning screen veteran writes in her autobiography A LOTUS GROWS IN THE MUD that she woke up on Christmas Eve aged 11 to find a man twice her age fondling her intimately - but her immediate screams brought instant help.

She is thankful the incident "never marred me to the point that later I shied away from a man's touch, or had ugly flashbacks of being molested. I never lost my trust in the male sex".
