The First Wives Club star arrived in the Big Apple for a job at the World's Fair when she was 19, and she still shudders at the memory of her first pad there after a better living arrangement fell through.

"The people I was supposed to live with weren't there any longer," she tells People magazine. "I found a one-room, roach-infested apartment."

And the cockroaches weren't the only pests Goldie had to face: "I had men exposing themselves in elevators."
