Mexican Pop Star Gloria Trevi Has Assured Fans She Is Alive And Well Amid False Rumours Suggesting She Had Been Kidnapped.
The veteran singer hit headlines over the holidays after fellow musician Marisela appeared to express her fears for Trevi in a post on Twitter.com, telling followers she was "praying" for the 47-year-old's safe return.
However, Marisela subsequently insisted her Twitter account had been hacked and apologised for causing unnecessary concern.
She wrote, "I want to make a public apology, my account was hacked, thank God I could erase the tweets and clarify that I had nothing to do (with the rumours). Sorry."
Trevi has since brushed off the unfounded claims, taking to her own Twitter page to joke, "Oh boys! I'm scared!"
Putting worried fans at ease, she then added, "Thanks (don't) worry (about) me... I'm perfect!"
Ironically, Trevi was accused of kidnapping in 2000, when she was arrested in Brazil, along with her then-boyfriend and manager Sergio Andrade, on suspicion of luring kids into a child porn ring. She spent nearly five years in prison before being cleared of the charges in 2004.
