Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy is to be honoured for the impact he has had on TV with a special Emmy Award in November (12).
Murphy will receive the International Emmy Founders Award at a New York gala on 19 November (10) in recognition of his TV shows, which also include American Horror Story and upcoming sitcom The New Normal.
The director/producer has been nominated for seven Emmy trophies in the past, while his shows, including medical drama Nip/Tuck, have nabbed 69 nominations in total.
Bruce L. Paisner, President of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, says, "Throughout his career, Ryan Murphy has masterfully redefined storytelling to create unprecedented atmospheres and characters that celebrate human difference, be it dark, as in Nip/Tuck, or hopeful, as in Glee. We are looking forward to recognising his creative accomplishments."
