Glee recently came under attack after the actress Gwyneth Paltrow sang a Gary Glitter song during a recent episode.
Glee bosses were heavily criticised for their decision to let Paltrow sing 'Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah)' by the convicted paedophile Gary Glitter, but television bosses in the UK are set to air the episode in full, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Paltrow played a substitute teacher who sings the suggestive song to a group of high school students during a sex education class. Campaigners for the children's charity 'Kidscape' labelled the decision "wholly inappropriate" due to Glitter's conviction for sexually assaulting two girls in Vietnam. Despite the row, executives at Channel 4, the UK network which broadcasts Glee, say they will air the episode completely uncensored. A spokesman said, "The scene is editorially justified and we do not seek to censor material in the proper context".
The glam-rock song was a hit for Glitter back in January 1972, reaching number-two in the UK Singles Chart. The track represented a departure from the singer's trademark sound and later found fame in the U.S after it was covered by the American rock singer JOAN JETT.
