Patrick Duff is a compelling and intensely individual songwriter and the twelve songs which form ‘Luxury Problems’ create a superb body of work; an outstanding, timeless debut album. The songs were recorded in the West Country over the last two years with the collaboration of producers Alex Lee (ex-Strangelove, Suede) and Adrian Utley (Portishead), together with a hand-picked group of musicians including guitarist Mike Mooney and drummer Damon Reece.
Its songs touch upon the wonder and beauty of life, viewed through a troubled and terrifying relationship with the modern world. Throughout this album Patrick reconciles this conflict with eloquence and humour, and this personal diary of Patrick Duff’s past and present creates a superb body of work. His songwriting is both formidable and prolific and his presence in live performance is captivating.
