Gigi Hadid has always wanted to star in Tommy Hilfiger campaigns.

The21-year-old model - who was announced as the ambassador for the designer brand's womenswear, accessories and fragrance lines in December 2015 - has admitted she has always admired the ''iconic'' fashion house ever since she was a child and has long dreamt of featuring in campaigns for them.

Speaking about the company, the blonde beauty - who features in Tommy Hilfiger's The Girl fragrance campaign - said: ''I think of Tommy Hilfiger as an iconic American brand. It's a lifestyle that exudes happiness and fun. It's a brand that I grew up looking at; they were always the campaigns that I wanted to be part of so to do it now is so much fun.''

And the Los Angeles-born star has revealed she loved shooting the commercial for the perfume, which follows a nautical theme, because of the energetic vibe, which is what the product stands for.

Gigi - who signed to IMG Models in 2011 - explained: ''The energy on the set was everything that I expected from a Tommy shoot. The feeling you get when you look at the campaign is the same feeling we had when we were shooting it, playful and spirited, so that's really exciting.

''The mood of the shoot was fun yet sexy. We created a nautical scene using huge ropes that brought an element of exaggeration. The set design was definitely very memorable.

'''The Girl' means being true to yourself and having fun while you're at it.''

Meanwhile, Gigi - who is currently dating former One Direction band member Zayn Malik - ''loves'' the latest product from the brand's beauty collection because it is ''fun and flirty''.

Speaking to about the brand's scent, she said: ''I love the fragrance's clean and fresh feel. I like a scent that doesn't overwhelm and keeps everything light and airy. It's a really fun and flirty fragrance to go out at night but also versatile enough to wear during the day.

''The Girl makes me feel the same way it smells - lively and fun. It's a great finishing touch right before you walk out the door.''
