Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
Call Me Ishmael
Having previously released two highly collectable, underground singles, Southend wunderkind Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly (aka 20 year old Sam Duckworth) releases his debut Atlantic Records single on 10th July.
Born and based in the Essex seaside town of Southend, Get Cape⦠comprises one man, a guitar and a laptop. Opinionated and political but with the hedonistic streak of a 20 year old given the chance to escape his hometown, Get Cape's music is passionate and life affirming, layering socially aware lyrics over acoustic guitar and laptop driven samples and beats.
'I-Spy / Call Me Ishmael' will be available on 7" vinyl and CD. The 7" will be accompanied by a 3" CD that features an exclusive live version of fan favourite, 'Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager' while the CD will provide access to a microsite where the track will be available for download. 'I-Spy' has already been tagged 'The Hottest Record In The World' on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show.
When not recording in his Southend bedroom studio, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is an artist who loves to tour. He played his first ever gig in summer 2004 and racked up over 120 gigs in 2005, travelling the country sleeping on mates' floors.
Having recently played alongside acts as diverse as The Automatic, Funeral For A Friend, The Magic Numbers and Forward Russia, Get Cape⦠will be embarking on his first UK headline tour in June. An avid supporter of the Love Music Hate Racism cause, last month he played in front of 50,000 people at their huge Trafalgar Square event and has been confirmed to perform at festivals throughout the summer including Download, Bestival, Wireless (Massive Attack day) and the leftwing protest event Martyrs Festival in Tolpuddle!
