The Cyrano de Bergerac star became a Russian citizen in 2013 following a dispute over taxes in his native France, and he has been full of praise for his adopted country and its president, Vladimir Putin, ever since.

Earlier this month (Jul15), Depardieu's name was added to the list of 500 foreign figures not welcome in the country for their outspoken "support of the violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty".

The country's culture minister, Ivan Kirilenko, has now reportedly sanctioned the 66 year old over his support of Russia's invasion of the Ukrainian territory of Crimea in 2014 and has barred him from entering the country for five years, according to Variety.com.
