Pop heart-throb George Michael pulled out of a ceremony yesterday (11NOV04) honouring his work for homosexuals, after he learnt America's gossip reporters would be attending.

The former Wham! star has been upset with the country's media furore over his anti-GEORGE BUSH song SHOOT THE DOG in 2002 and his infamous public toilet escapades in 1998, which resulted in the singer being outed.

According to American website PAGESIX.COM, Michael cancelled his appearance only a day before tonight's (12NOV04) OUT magazine's 'Out 100' party in New York nightspot Capitale, when he realised ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and ACCESS HOLLYWOOD TV crews and PEOPLE magazine journalists would be among the guests.

Out's publicist says, "George was confirmed to attend and did pull out."
