Couples who want to dine at a table with Hillary, George and his wife Amal at the San Francisco home of entrepreneur Shervin Pishevar on Friday (15Apr16) will reportedly have to pay around $353,400 (£247,120), with a standard ticket costing $33,400 (£23,660).

Supporters of Bernie Sanders, Hillary's rival in the race to become the U.S. Democratic Party's presidential nominee, have called on residents of the city to march on the event to protest against rich donors to the former U.S. Secretary of State.

"George and Amal Clooney, coupled with Hillary Clinton will be hosting a fundraising dinner in San Francisco on April 15th," a Facebook post inviting people to the protest reads. "Rich people should not be allowed to buy politicians...The very least we can do is to remind Hillary's rich donors of the corruption they are a part of.

"We will protest outside the event so that none of the attendants can chose to close their eyes to criticism and insulate themselves from the people in a fancy dinner."

Neither George nor Amal have commented on the planned protest, but Shervin is unfazed by the plans to disrupt his guests' evening.

"Only in America would an Iranian-born immigrant son of a taxi driver and maid trying to help elect our first woman president be protested at his home," he tells Britain's Guardian newspaper. "But I welcome nonviolent protests as an exercise of our great democracy."

In addition to being the star attraction at the San Francisco fundraising dinner, George and Amal are hosting another event at their home in Studio City, Los Angeles on Saturday (16Apr16).
