George Clooney enjoys the Hollywood awards season because it gives him a chance to catch up with friends he rarely sees.
The Hollywood star has been enjoying stellar success with his new movie The Descendants, and has picked up several prizes for the role, including a Golden Globe award for Best Actor.
His pal Brad Pitt has also been enjoying glory for his films Moneyball and The Tree of Life - and the two actors caught up with each other at the annual Oscar nominee luncheon in Los Angeles on Monday (06Feb12).
Despite being friends for years, Clooney admits he rarely spends any quality time with Pitt and enjoys his company at industry events.
He told reporters at the bash, "A lot of people at home think we all hang out together. I think they think we're always at the Hilton drinking champagne. The truth is I hadn't seen Brad in about a year (before the Golden Globes)... So it's fun to catch up, and it's fun to see people I like and haven't seen in a long time."
Other stars at the luncheon, held to recognise all the nominees for the upcoming Academy Awards, included Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Glenn Close and Michelle Williams.
All of the celebrities at the event posed for a group photograph.
