Genesis are following in the footsteps of fellow reformed trio THE POLICE by announcing a reunion tour in North America. Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford will stage stadium shows this autumn (07), beginning in Toronto, Canada, and ending with what is sure to be an historic concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The supergroup announced their tour plans at a press conference in New York yesterday (07MAR07). Some tickets will go on sale this weekend (10MAR07). It's the first time the trio has come together for shows since 1992. Original Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel was invited to join the reunion but declined due to scheduling conflicts. The group has not announced a corporate sponsor for the Turn It on Again tour, insisting they simply want to reach as many fans as possible. Collins says, "We're not doing it for the money... We're not trying to come out of this with a fistful of dollars. It's very rewarding to know there's still people out there that liked us the first time around." The Genesis reunion tour begins this summer (11JUN07) in Helsinki, Finland and will end with a free concert in Rome, Italy on 14 July (07). Meanwhile, Genesis will be feted at the 2007 VH1 Rock Honors event in Las Vegas in May (07), alongside Heart, ZZ Top and Ozzy Osbourne.
