Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed have finally tied the knot after over 28 years together, with the pair getting hitched at an evening ceremony on the lawn of the Beverly Hills hotel yesterday (1/10.)

The ceremony took place in front of some 400 guests, reports People, including Playboy millionaire Hugh Hefner, stand up comedian Bill Maher and the members of Kiss. Also in attendance were the pair's son and daughter, 22 year-old Nick and 19 year-old Sophie Alexandra - the latter was the maid of honour.

The couple got together back in 1983 and have spent almost all of their time in Beverly Hills, there were cheers as Simmons said the immortal words "I do," the couple having previously exchanged vows that they'd written themselves. Tweed was sporting an ivory Priscilla of Boston gown.

Talking to Entertainment Online before the wedding, Simmons recounted the moment he proposed, saying, "I will tell you that when I was standing in front of Shannon, my knees started to buckle," Simmons said. "I went down and I thought 'Uh oh, I guess I'm doing it."

Speaking of his devotion to Tweed, the rocker also admitted that it was time to grow up, "I'm 62. I've been doing a lot of wacky stuff for an awfully long time -- the band, the thing, travelling around the world and all that. There's nobody I've ever loved. There's nobody I've ever said 'I love you' to. I even find it difficult to say 'I love you' to my mother, but I love Shannon with all my heart and all my soul and always will."
