A British detective who specialises in trapping paedophiles is helping Vietnamese police investigate child sex allegations against rock star Gary Glitter.

Detective Chief Inspector SEAN McKENNA has flown to the resort of Vung Tau to brief investigating officers and offer British assistance.

Glitter, 61, is currently being held in a Vietnamese prison after being charged with child molestation last month (25NOV05).

Police are also thought to be investigating child sex and internet child pornography claims against Glitter.

McKenna has also offered police chief Lieutenant Colonel NGUYEN DUC TRINH the cooperation of the Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre in their attempt to convict Glitter - real name Paul Francis Gadd.

McKenna says, "I had a very informative and good meeting with Lieutenant Colonel Trinh and he has been made aware of the assistance we can offer.

"We are simply offering our assistance, as we have no investigative powers here. Glitter is their investigation and they are doing it thoroughly."
