The children of Gary Glitter have contacted the disgraced British rocker for the first time in over six years to pledge their support as he fights child sex abuse charges in Vietnam. Glitter's kids PAUL, 41, and SARAH disowned their father when he was convicted of possessing child pornography in Britain in 1999. But they have now written to their 61-year-old dad - real name PAUL FRANCIS GADD - who is accused of sexually assaulting two girls aged 10 and 11. Local police chief NGUYEN DUC TRINH says, "The daughter wrote for both of them, telling their father they'd read he was in prison, asking what conditions were like and how he was coping. "They told him to take care of himself and that everything would be all right. They ended by saying they loved him." Glitter yesterday (02MAR06) appeared in a Vietnamese court on the opening day of his trial, where he protested his innocence. A verdict is expected later today (03MAR06).
