LATEST: Fallen pop star Gary Glitter will not sign a sex offenders register when he is let out of a Vietnam prison later this month (Aug08).
The Leader of the Gang hitmaker - real name Paul Gadd - is to be released from Thu Doc jail in Binh Thuan on 19 August (08) and faces deportation when he is freed.
But Gadd's lawyer has confirmed he will not have to sign a sex offenders register - despite being convicted of molesting children.
Le Thanh Kinh said: "Once on the aircraft he's a free man. He won't be accompanied."
Gadd, 63, was arrested in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in November 2005 on suspicion of abusing children.
In March 2006, he was convicted of committing obscene acts with two girls, aged 11 and 12, and sentenced to three years imprisonment.
He was also ordered to pay $315 (GBP158) to the families of his victims.
