LATEST: Pop paedophile Gary Glitter is facing a death sentence in Vietnam after a 12-year-old girl told police he had sex with her.
The disgraced glam rocker fled his beachside residence in Vung Tao last week (begs14NOV05) after he was found living with two underage schoolgirls, and Vietnamese police arrested him on Saturday (19NOV05) at Ho Chi Minh City airport as he attempted to board a flight to Bangkok.
Authorities confirm the fresh allegations come from two girls, aged 12 and 18, who claim they went to the 61-year-old's villa for sex.
The Thanh Nien newspaper reported the 12-year-old had sex three times with the ALWAYS YOURS hitmaker, who paid her the equivalent of $9.90 (GBP5.50) in Vietnamese currency each time.
The former pop star, real name Paul Gadd, could face the death penalty because sex with a girl of 12 is classified as child rape in the south east Asian country.
If he is charged with the lesser offence of "obscene acts with a child" he faces a 12-year jail sentence.
A police spokesperson says, "Having sex with a 12-year-old girl, regardless of whether he had her consent, is still considered child rape under Vietnamese law."
