Gary Barlow flew out to visit British troops in Afghanistan on Sunday (27.10.13).
The Take That singer went to the war-torn country straight after 'The X Factor' results show - on which he is a judge - to boost morale.
He spent Monday (28.10.13) meeting members of the British air force, navy and army, filming a special one-off TV programme.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''Gary spent lots of time meeting all the people serving on the frontline, and really enjoyed chatting to them.
''On the show, he will be finding out what life is like in camp and how difficult it is to be away from home.
''He listened to lots of their stories and they told him how much they missed their families, and he even performed some songs for them.
''Lots of the servicemen and women were saying his visit was a real boost to them.''
The 42-year-old star posed for many pictures, held up messages troops had written to their loved ones and signed personal items while he was at Camp Bastion.
Soldier Keith McKnight posted his picture with Gary on Twitter, and wrote: ''Aww, me and #GaryBarlow had the best day.''
The Take That singer also started to give a concert, but it was interrupted after just two songs when troops were called out on an operation.
