Garth Brooks has stunned doctors and staff at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee by agreeing to hand over cash from sales of his new box set to them.
After learning iHeartMedia's recent St. Jude Radiothon on 1 December (16) raised more than $1.3 million (GBP1 million) for the hospital, generous Garth pledged to donate $20 (GBP16) from the sale of every copy sold of his Ultimate Box Collection between the start of the month and Christmas Day.
"I was stunned when I heard just how much money the show had raised in one day,” Brooks says in a press release. “It really motivated me to get involved and see how I could try and help such an amazing cause."
Garth Brooks: The Ultimate Collection is available exclusively at Target stores across the U.S. and includes 10 discs featuring the country superstar's most famous songs, in addition to 18 previously unreleased tracks.
