After Jon was stabbed multiple times in the finale of the fantasy TV show's fifth season, viewers were desperate to know if his apparent death was permanent, and Maisie, who portrays trainee assassin Arya in the series, convinced her castmates to tell journalists and fans the character had been killed off forever.

However, Kit's character was brought back to life via sorcery in Sunday's (01May16) second episode of the sixth series.

"Whenever we were asked the question, ‘Is Jon Snow coming back?’ everyone was like, 'Oh, I can't say'," she told U.K. chat show host Alan Carr, "and I thought that was boring and I thought we should just say 'No'."

When approached by curious fans herself, the feisty 19-year-old took pleasure in declaring Jon's time on the show was over.

"I took it upon myself to lie to absolutely every journalist, every fan and everyone that came up to me," she said. "It was really funny because fans would come up to me and be like, 'I know you can't talk about it, but is Jon Snow dead...?' and I'd be like, 'Yeah, he is dead'. They would be shocked and I'd watch them be like, 'I don’t really want a picture with you any more'."

Kit, 29, has already apologised to Game Of Thrones viewers for telling them his character was dead, but Maisie feels no remorse for her grand deception.

When asked about her co-star's apology she added, "Don’t apologise! I think that is the fun of it. Why would I say 'Who knows' when I can totally lie and catch everyone off guard."
