Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal has joined a panel of industry experts helping aspiring directors develop their projects at the Doha Film Institute's inaugural Qumra film initiative.

The Y Tu Mama Tambien star has been appointed a Qumra Master, alongside previously announced participants, including A Separation actress Leila Hatami, and filmmakers Cristian Mungiu and Timbuktu's Abderrahmane Sissako.

The Qumra event will take place in Doha, Qatar from 6 to 11 March (15) and feature the work of 31 budding filmmakers, who will get the opportunity to develop their craft in creative workshops and discussions with the Qumra Masters.
