David Beckham & Sons Attend Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards, See Who Else Was There [Pictures]

David Beckham Gabby Douglas Nathan Gamble Isaac Hempstead-Wright

David Beckham's appearance at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards ended when he and his two sons - Romeo and Cruz - were covered in gold goo as part of a skit. Beckham managed to smile through the sliming incident, after his initial shock, but Cruz was distinctly less impressed when his t-shirt was ruined by the practical joke. Fortunately, the trio were the only guests at the awards ceremony to be slimed, everyone else fared considerably better.

Gabby Douglas Considered Giving Up Gymnastics Just One Year Before Her Olympic Triumph

Gabby Douglas

Gabby Douglas, who made history as the first black woman to ever win Olympic gold in individual all-around gymnastics at this years London Olympics, has admitted that she considered giving it all up only last year.

As revealed in her new memoir, only seven months before she tumbled into the Olympic history books, Gabby told her family she was done with the sport and was seriously considering swapping trades and going to work as a sandwich merchant at Chick-Fil-A. Faced with homesickness due to the gruelling schedule her sport offers, as well as occasionally being on the receiving end of a torrent of racial abuse wherever she went, we can clearly see why she did consider giving it all up.

She writes in her book that she thought: “I can get a job at Chick-Fil-A in Virginia Beach and live off the 14-grand I just won at World Championships...I just want to be a normal teenage kid."

2012's 'Most Fascinating People' According To Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters Ben Affleck One Direction Hillary Clinton E.L. James Gabby Douglas

We at Contact Music deal in the business of 'interesting people'. We write about them day in, day out, but there's one person that has anointed herself for the past twenty years as the right person to judge the top ten most interesting people of the year: Barbara Walters

For the past twenty years, Barbara Walters has hosted a special 90 minute show about the year's most interesting people. According to NY Daily News, those to make the cut this year include; E.L. James, journalist and woman responsible for the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy; Argo's Ben Affleck, whose rise to fame was most notably due to his collaboration with Matt Dillon on 'Good Will Hunting' in 1997; Teenage Olympic medal-winning athlete, Gabby Douglas; Comedy writer, creator of 'Family Guy' and the director of summer movie Ted, Seth McFarlane; UK boy band One Direction; and finally two opposing political figures, Democrat Hilary Clinton and Republican Senator Chris Christie.

Neither the writer of poorly written fiction, nor an adolescent boy-band seem all that interesting to us, though Chris Christie, Ben Affleck and Gabby Douglas all seem like great choices. Plus, the best is yet to come, as Barbara Walter's top three interesting people of 2012 will be revealed on the show when it's broadcast on December 12th on ABC. Who do you think is the most interesting person of 2012? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

What Makes Gabby Douglas Sportswoman Of The Year?

Gabby Douglas Serena Williams

Gabby Douglas, the 16 year old American gymnast that cleaned up at this year's Olympics, has deservedly won Sportswoman of the Year from the Women's Sports Foundation. But what makes a winner? Let's take a look at Douglas' accolades and achievements over the years.

Although 16 years doesn't seem a particularly long lifespan to amass world notoriety and massive achievement, that's exactly what Gabby Douglas has done. In the London 2012 Olympics she won gold in both the individual and team all-around competition. The all-around competition, for those of us that don't know, is exactly what it sounds like; competency all-around. Yahoo said that "In order to win the all-around competition, Douglas had to be dominant in multiple apparatus, including floor, vault, bars and beam." That's five whole disciplines to excel in, which Douglas did at such a level as to win two gold medals. Douglas' dedication to her sport saw her move across the country to train with Liang Chow and Shawn Johnson- who made sure she was the best of the best.

Of course, Douglas had some serious competition for the prestigious award, and Serena Williams, Allyson Felix, Lindsay Vonn, Jessica Long, Tatyanna McFaddyn and finally, another teenage Olympic superstar Missy Franklin. Franklin won 5 medals in the Olympic pool and is aged just 17. All the nominees are incredible women who represent a new and exciting elite group of women for girls to aspire to.
