Veteran British comedian Freddie Starr has launched legal action against a woman who alleges the star molested her when she was a teenager.

The funnyman is currently on bail after he was twice arrested by cops investigating the Sir Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.

In a Tv show on the controversy, which aired in Britain last year (12), Karin Ward accused Starr of inappropriately touching her when she was 14 in a dressing room at the Bbc studios after they both appeared on Savile's programme.

He has vehemently denied the claims and is now suing her for slander and malicious falsehood after lodging a complaint at London's High Court.

Starr tells Britain's Sunday Mirror, "I will not rest until my good name has been cleared by the police and all of those who have publicly defamed me have been taken to task by the courts."

He is seeking "substantial" damages.
