Fred Willard 's appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night (July 26, 2012) showed the 72 year old in good spirits, but protesting his innocence, following his recent arrest for lewd behaviour. Sitting in the chair next to the chat show host, Willard asked "Jimmy, what do you want to talk about first?" knowing very well why he had been invited onto the show. He then joked "You know, let me say this: it's the last time I'm going to listen to my wife when she says, 'Why don't you go out and see a movie?"
What followed was a casual and humorous exchange between Fred and Jimmy, before Fred addressed the situation with a more serious attitude. They began by joking about what film Willard was watching at the Tiki Theatre, the night that he was arrested. "Was it 'Anaconda'?" asked Fallon. Willard replied "No, sadly, it was 'Get Shorty." When he was done joking around though, Willard took a moment to address the situation and told the audience "It's very embarrassing. It's embarrassing as hell. But let me say this: nothing happened. I did nothing wrong. Everything is being sorted out as we speak .?.?. if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, everything looks suspicious."
Willard has already been sacked from his role on the TV show 'Market Warriors.' He has been told, though, that he can sidestep conviction, so long as he signs up for a 'pre-filing diversion program.' Willard already has a conviction for lewd conduct, dating back to 1990
