Franz Ferdinand release a new single, Michael, through Domino Records on August 16th 2004. The last single to be taken from their self-titled debut album, which has now sold well in excess of a million copies worldwide, it will feature 4 completely new tracks across three formats.
The single will be released on 2 CDs (RUG184CD1 & RUG184CD2) and 7” (RUG184). Michael will be accompanied by Missing You, a track recorded in Germany in May of this year, live favourite Love and Destroy and Don’t Start, recorded during the bands album sessions in Malmo with Tor Johannsen. The single also features a new version of Tell Her Tonight, on which drummer Paul Thomson provides vocals in German.
The band recently shot the video for the single in Berlin. It features a cameo appearance by Michael, an acquaintance of the band and the actual subject of the song.
The last two months have seen the band return to the US, where their long player is currently at number 32 in the album chart, for a hugely
successful sell out tour and begin a summer of performing at festivals across the globe. The band recently played a legendary set at Glastonbury that has been heralded as one of the performances of the festival.
The band are also in the process of finalising an extensive UK tour for the autumn.Details of the dates will be announced shortly.
